Goodbye and Thank You!

Six and a half years with New Tactics in Human Rights has come and gone in the blink of an eye, and it is time for me to say goodbye. For over six years, I have been surrounded by the stories of human rights defenders, your stories, and your tireless efforts to improve your communities and countries. I am constantly astounded by the dedication, persistence, strength, and courage of defenders; This has forever shaped my worldview. I thank you for working with me, sharing your stories and struggles, and willingness to try new ideas.

I could use this farewell blog post (that I have forced many before me to write) as an opportunity to talk about all the amazing work that New Tactics has, and continues, to do. That would be easy. The New Tactics team is filled with dedicated, passionate, intelligent people who care deeply about moving forward the work of human rights defenders worldwide. Over the years, the New Tactics program has expanded in scope and reach and will continue to do so in new and exciting ways. I have learned so much from my colleagues about being part of a team, working on collaborative innovation, human rights, and so much more.

However, this post is really to say thank you to my teammates and friends. My years at CVT and with New Tactics have brought immeasurable memories and experiences that I will never forget. The New Tactics team, both at headquarters in Minnesota and in Amman, Jordan, are full of kind, caring people who made the work enjoyable, who were willing to try new ideas and approaches, and who put up with my brand of humor. They were there in the good times and bad to support, encourage, and challenge in all the best ways. So…THANK YOU to the New Tactics team, past and present, intern, volunteer, or otherwise, who made this experience what it was. I will forever be grateful.
