Loretta Pyles

Loretta Pyles, Ph.D., is Professor at the School of Social Welfare at the University at Albany, SUNY. She is also a workshop leader, organizational consultant, and a meditation and yoga teacher. She works with organizations to promote healing justice, mindful practice, and integrative self-care through trauma-informed and anti-oppression lenses. Her scholarship has centered on community organizing, environmental disasters, gender-based violence, racial and economic justice, holistic well-being, and rewilding. She is the author of Progressive Community Organizing: Transformative Practice in a Globalizing World, 3rd ed. (Routledge, 2021) and Healing Justice: Holistic Self-Care for Change Makers (Oxford University Press, 2018).
